Advocate to hold first-ever Awareness Day May 17

The 178-year-old Advocate newspaper will mark its first-ever Advocate Awareness Day in May.

Set for Sunday, May 17, Advocate Awareness Day is a chance for churches and pastors to tell church members about the Advocate’s newspaper ministry.

The Advocate has a number of materials available for pastors and other church leaders to quickly and easily share information about the newspaper:

In preparation for this special day, the Advocate is also sending churches several free copies of the May Advocate next month to place in their narthex or welcome center and lift up from the pulpit on Advocate Awareness Day.

“It is our fervent hope that increased readership of the Advocate will increase the Connection—after all, the more that people learn through the Advocate, the stronger disciples they can be,” said Advocate Editor Jessica Brodie.

The Advocate has been earning a reputation as one of the best newspapers in the denomination, winning award after award (64 in the last five years) from the state press association and United Methodist Association of Communicators.
