“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”—2 Corinthians 5:7

The 2017 South Carolina Annual Conference Session is quickly approaching, and it will be a blessed time to gather for praise, worship, service and holy conferencing.

In our gathering, we will experience the hospitality of a new location in Greenville. The community is excited about our presence, and we are grateful for the efforts of the Greenville District Host Committee, as well as the Greenville Convention and Civic Bureau, who have diligently prepared to be our gracious hosts.

Our theme this year is “A More Excellent Way: We Walk by Faith, Not by Sight.” It is a continuation of our faith journey as we seek a more excellent way to make disciples of Jesus Christ while transforming our world.

I am delighted to welcome Bishop Cynthia Harvey to our Annual Conference experience from the Louisiana Episcopal Area to share with us in praise and worship, as well as Dr. Albert Moseley, president-dean of Gammon Theological Seminary to lead us in Bible study.

As always, becoming disciples God can use has allowed us to share in some awesome ministry events. This year is no different. We are excited to participate with Homes of Hope in helping address homelessness in Greenville by partnering to build two to four homes in the Greenville area. Also, we join with the youth of the South Carolina Conference and the Bikes for the World ministry in addressing the needs of basic transportation for those around the world. These are two tremendous opportunities for mission and ministry that United Methodists in South Carolina can put their hands to doing.

Information for ways to participate can be found on the conference website (www.umcsc.org). So come to Annual Conference and share in a glorious time of celebration, generosity and worship.

We’ll see you in Greenville!
