Energy builds for Me to We Quilt Project

Six quilt coordinator slots filled; six more needed

By Jessica Brodie

The energy for the South Carolina Conference’s Me to We Quilt Project is building.

Quilt coordinators, who have come from the United Methodist Women, have stepped up in six of the conference’s 12 districts.

Current UMW Quilt Coordinators are as follows:

Quilt coordinators are being sought for the remaining districts; a team from every district will be formed to guide local churches through the process and also piece the district quilt together. United Methodist Women across the state are actively helping with the project.

The “Me to We Quilt Project” is the brainchild of Cynthia Williams, former convener for Connectional Ministries and now a United Methodist disaster response case manager, who with Becky Green, Marion District lay leader, announced the project at Annual Conference 2017.

The project involves all 12 districts making quilts to represent their various ministries. The quilts will be presented at next year’s Annual Conference, June 2018, and wrapped around the district superintendents and the bishop as a way of symbolizing ministries across South Carolina.

Anyone who wishes to participate in the Me to We Quilt Project should reach out to the quilt coordinator in their district or call Williams at 843-372-1009.
