Advocate Awareness Day 2018 set for May 20

Churches are invited to spread the word and help others know about the Advocate’s newspaper ministry as the Advocate holds its annual awareness day.

Advocate Awareness Day is set for Sunday, May 20, 2018.

“The Advocate is the oldest newspaper in Methodism, which is a great honor for South Carolina, yet we’re learning many people still do not know about our newspaper ministry,” said Advocate Editor Jessica Brodie. “Since 2010, we have won 100 awards for writing and overall journalism excellence, and we think all United Methodists should know about this important resource and informational tool.”

Advocate Awareness Day is a chance for congregations to understand what the 181-year-old Advocate does in fostering a connectional church, as well as some of its newest ventures: book-publishing through the Advocate Press.

The Advocate has and will have a number of materials available for churches to use on Advocate Awareness Day:

  • A video
  • Speakers
  • Bulletin inserts to print and put in your Sunday bulletin
  • Subscription envelopes
  • More
